Welcome to the first edition of Ask Ash! Thank you to everyone who sent in a question!
Do you think the producers will do good by the leads this season? The previews look questionable.
We put too much emphasis on the producers and not enough on editing. I think the editing always tricks us, and the outcome is usually always happy overall. Most contestants post happy pictures with production at the end of their journey. We’ve seen information to the contrary from many other contestants, but I feel there’s probably a balance between the two stances on production. It’s hard to say either way, but I hope Gabby and Rachel felt supported during their experience.
P.S- I’m kinda obsessed with the producers that fell in love with each other! So cute!
Nate’s Hair
The show often is just a mirror of how the real world operates, and hair is no exception to the rule. Ask any Black person, and they can tell you about a time when their hair was brought up in a professional setting. I’m glad that Nate spoke up and used it as an opportunity to educate the audience. Many advocates are pursuing legislation like The Crown Act to prevent discrimination in the classroom and workplace, and The Bachelor space is no different.
The Lack of Body Diversity
I’m pleased that this conversation is finally being placed at the forefront of changes we want to see on the show. Roses for Every Body has a great petition to get the show to move forward eventually. I still think the franchise wants to keep up the “fantasy” aspect of viewing, but hopefully, they will see that viewers want to see themselves, all colors, shapes, and sizes, on screen. I hope to be a bigger part of this conversation as the movement gains momentum.
Two Leads- A Hit or a Miss
So far, I’m choosing to approach the season as two separate seasons. I’m trying to compartmentalize each lead in their own right because the comparisons will be endless this season. For what it’s worth, I think it’s still in the early stages, so I’ll need to give the show a few more weeks before I can weigh in on whether this was a good or bad idea. So far, I am finding aspects of both journeys fascinating.
Spoilers
I’m spoiled on some things but not on others. Spoiler culture has changed since I started watching the show. You used to dig to find them, but now they fall into your lap. I think it’s fun to watch either way and as we know, a lot of the time, the spoilers get it wrong. I’m the type of person who reads the last page of a novel when I get worried about the protagonist, so it’s safe to say that I don’t mind being spoiled.
Zachary Reality always has the hottest tea, and he’s my current favorite to get spoilers from along with Bachelor Rabbit Hole!
A few people sent me some questions requiring a little more depth, so I’ll be back to answer those in detail later!
I’m also restructuring this space, so be on the lookout for some more news and content from me!
Love,
Ash
