The season finale of Season 20 of The Bachelorette, led by Charity Lawson, aired on Monday, August 21st. Fans saw Charity and Dotun get engaged in one of the most beautiful proposals in the show's history.
As the couple joined host Jesse Palmer on stage for their first joint appearance, Jesse announced a trip to Greece for the pair, and Dotun broke the news that Charity would be one of the contestants competing for the mirrorball trophy on Dancing with the Stars!
As Jesse stated at the end of the clip, the future could not be brighter for Charity and Dotun. As a fan, my most anticipated moment after the finale airs is the first Instagram post the couple shares with the world publicly, and Charity and Dotun did not disappoint.
As I read Dotun’s beautiful words, I felt like Charity when she said, “Not me cheesing like this,” at the end of one of their first dates.
Additionally, the couple had much to celebrate, as Dotun turned 31 on August 24th. The pair celebrated in Vegas by spending quality time together and partying with some of his friends from the season and her brother, Nehemiah, at The Venetian in Las Vegas.
The couple also released never-before-seen photos and several post-show interviews detailing the next steps in their journey, including the plan to move in together soon after her appearance on Dancing with the Stars.
I have not seen a happier ending in my time watching the show. Their love story is the fairytale we have all been waiting for, season after season. Charity was a phenomenal lead, and every step of the way, Dotun supported, loved, and reassured her, and she gave the same back to him. As the wonderful humans at Here to Find Love said, they have one of the most solid foundations of any couple to have come from the show.
Charity and Dotun's love story takes on even greater significance as they are the first monoracial Black couple in franchise history. In a interview with People Magazine, Dotun shared, "We know nothing necessarily defines us, but we understand that's a huge part of our journey and we are extremely honored to have this position."
After the finale aired, I felt a bittersweet sadness, similar to the day after Christmas. One the one hand, I am so overjoyed for Charity and Dotun, and I am excited to see where their love takes them. On the other hand, nine episodes were not enough, so knowing that Charity will be on Dancing with the Stars will somewhat fill the Charity-sized space in my heart.
There is lots to get into in Bachelor Nation, and I have more content coming soon for both paid and free subscribers, but I wanted this newsletter to be all about the happy couple.
Congratulations and many blessings to Charity Lawson and Dotun Olubeko!

I'm so happy for them, but sort of wish she wasn't doing DWTS! I want them to go live happy private lives and just give us a little peek on their socials now and then. I truly hope DWTS doesn't put a strain on them. They do seem to have a stronger foundation than some of the others who have gone that route.
I'm so happy for both Charity and Dotun! And have to agree with the commenter above about possible strain that DWTS would bring to any relationship. Hoping the best for them though and I'm looking forward to seeing more Charity! She really is the best. Great lead, great love story. What more could you ask for from a season of Bachelorette? 🥰
